In the present study, the actinidin-like enzyme was purified from ‘Mitsuko’ fruit, and the physico-chemical and enzymatic properties of the protease were compared to those of actinidin. Chromatographic and electrophoretic analyses have revealed that the major isozymes in the actinidin-like enzyme are different molecules from the actinidin isozymes A1 or A2. Moreover, the actinidin-like enzyme showed clear differences in substrate selectivity from actinidin.
