They became unemployed and impoverished as a result of the Meiji Restoration. The organizations Heian-gikai and Kyoto-Ohkitsu-zaidan were founded to support them. Heian-gikai Siryo (the Historical Materials of the Heian-gikai) and Ohkitsu-zaidan Siryo (the Historical Materials of the Ohkitsuzaidan) are the materials handed own from generation to generation in these organizations. In 2016, these aterials were donated to the Kyoto Institute, Library and Archives.
