| 内容記述 | The Japanese manga and animation The Blast of Tempest use quite a few memorable quotes from Shakespeare’s Hamlet and The Tempest. However, all the quotation are Japanese translations, and all the translations are originally translated for the use in Japanese theatre. When hearing or reading Shakespearean quotes in Japanese their impacts are quite different than that it being spoken in Early-modern English. Especially when the translated Japanese does not reflect the time-period of Shakespeare, other than concepts or morals and slight shift in vocabulary. This paper discusses the disappearance of gender role with the use of contemporary Japanese translation in a very contemporary entertainment media manga and anime. | |||||||||||
