The aim of the present study is to examine health literacy, awareness on healthy eating, and physical condition among female junior and senior high school athletes, thereby providing baseline data for health education activities. The subjects were 54 female junior and senior high school students, including 29 players from soccer academies and 25 from junior and senior high school baseball teams. The questionnaire asked the subjects about their health literacy, awareness on healthy eating, and physical condition. The subjects were then classified into two groups(low- and high-health literacy groups)based on their health literacy scores, and their awareness on healthy eating and physical condition were examined. The results showed that the high-health literacy group among the female junior and senior high school athletes has better awareness on healthy eating, less frequent constipation, less injury-related hospital visits, and more subjects having regular access to information related to healthy eating, health, and illness(P <0.05) |
