The generic title The Linguistic Atlas of the Tokyo Bay Area (1973-1997) strictly coalesces the following two surveys: One, A Word Geography of the Tateyama City and Awa District (South Chiba Prefecture)(1973-1979) and the other The Linguistic Atlas of the Tokyo Bay Area (1982-1997). I particiated in field work in the two, and therefore can judge that their data is allowably homogeneous in nature, even though not completely so. In the MAP here in the right the horizontally striped box refers to the field in which the former survey (1973-79) was conducted, edited and published. The other fields are divided into five ones, (1)～(5). The first fascicles of (1) and (2) were already printed a few years ago. No.(1) deals with Yokohama City and the Miura Peninsula, Kanagawa Prefecture, and No.(2) with Kisarazu, Kimitsu, and Futtsu Cities, Chiba Prefecture. The other ones, that is, (3), (4) and (5),are just now appearing in their turn. It should be added that each first fascicle almost exclusively concerns the informants who helped us to obtain their speech data of each locality. |
