| 内容記述 | Francesco Borromini, the eminent architect in the Baroque Age of Rome, planned the salon in the Vallicelliana Library for the use of Oratorians and visitors. As an ideal library, Borromini referred to the Barberini Library, which had almost the same size of the salone, specially, its vault structure. It is considered that Borromini’s design of the bookshelves of 2 stories with a walkway is the development of the Barberini Library. The balusters of wooden pillars, which support the walkway, clearly separate the space of the bookrests from the large space of the salone, and create the individual and available spaces for the readers. Then, Borromini planned the salone in the Library, which could provide the relaxation with the beautiful panorama as the Barberini Library, and created the comfortable studying spaces at the windows with enjoyable view. |
